One day, you might come to Koala Tree to meet Lily. You might feel curious, shy, wiggly, unsure, or a bit of lots of things. There is no wrong way to feel.
When you arrive, Lily will be there to welcome you. Cuddles Koala will be waiting in the playroom too. You can say hello, hold Cuddles, have him nearby, or leave him where he is. It is your choice.
Lily will show you some of the things in the room. There might be toys, drawing things, sand, stories and games. You can look around first, choose something to play with, or take a little time.
Lily has special time set aside just for you. Her job is to get to know you, listen to you and help you feel safe while you are together. You deserve to feel safe, seen, heard and understood. If you want help, Lily can help you show the grown-ups around you what matters and what you need. You can talk, play, draw, make up a story or show Lily what something feels like. You do not have to know what to say, and you do not have to tell her anything before you feel ready.
Sometimes it is easier to show something through play, pictures or a story. Sometimes you might want to use direct words. Lily will stay curious and listen, without deciding what your play means for you.
A grown-up who cares for you might stay close or join you at first. You and Lily can work out what feels comfortable as you get to know each other.
Some things you share with Lily can stay private. If she is worried that you or someone else might not be safe, she may need to talk with a grown-up who can help. She will do her best to explain this to you.
There is no right way to play or to feel. You can take your time. Cuddles and Lily will be there to welcome you when it is time for your next visit.
